Schedule initial outing to a dentist by initial birthday

Note to relatives — and some dentists: Children should see a dentist by their initial birthday or when their initial teeth arrive, whichever comes sooner.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and a American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry have been swelling this summary for years. But many ubiquitous dentists and pediatricians — and so many relatives — haven’t gotten a message. Some medical professionals are still revelation relatives to wait until children are 3 or 4 to take them to a dentist.
