A dentist whose purported insufficiency forced 135 patients to be removed over fears they competence have cancer should have referred patients sooner, a bungle row has heard.

Four of Professor Philip Lamey’s patients died and 15 had delays in their diagnosis after being treated during a Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

He is now confronting 43 charges relating to 33 patients.
